At Lumana, our commitment to innovation drives us to continuously enhance the platform, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of our customers.

This November, we focused on delivering high-impact improvements, including enhanced integration capabilities, a new intuitive map view for camera visualization, and expanded browser compatibility. These updates are designed to optimize your operational efficiency and deliver a more seamless user experience.

Event Tag Alerts: Unlock the Power of Open Architecture

Earlier this year, we launched Event Tag, an innovative new way to integrate Lumana with external systems to streamline enterprise video searches. Event Tag uses API keys to seamlessly connect to other systems—such as point-of-sale (POS), warehouse management, and access control—and index footage based on specific activities. For example, manufacturing clients use Event Tag to log shipment arrivals. Users can then input a shipment ID number to pull footage if an investigation is needed.

Today, we’re excited to announce that Event Tags can now trigger alerts! This functionality allows Lumana to integrate with any system offering an open API, providing highly relevant alerts for activities that extend far beyond typical video security use cases. Event Tag validation alerts can also be created to validate a scene, ensuring the footage matches the Event Tag trigger.

Key benefits include:

  • Greater integration possibilities: Lumana can now ingest data from external systems to trigger real-time alerts.
  • Customizable workflows: Users can define specific event criteria for when an alert should be triggered, enabling Lumana to better align with your organization’s unique needs.
  • Actionable insights: By combining third-party system data with Lumana’s AI, you gain actionable insights into patterns, anomalies, and potential threats.

Retail clients use Event Tag alerts by integrating Lumana with their POS systems. If a refund is processed for a high-value item, Lumana can automatically alert security to review camera footage of the transaction. In this same environment, security can set up an Event Tag validation alert so whenever an employee opens a cash register without serving a customer, they can obtain real-time situational awareness of the event. This proactive approach helps organizations minimize potential fraud and enhances operational oversight.

Whether it’s a POS system in retail, an access control system in a corporate environment, or a visitor check-in system on a school campus, Lumana can now ingest data from these sources to trigger real-time video alerts and automate incident response. These new alerts are available to all users and can be set up by navigating to Alerts > Add Alerts > Integrations.

Map View: A New Way to Visualize Your Security Cameras

Last month, we released floor plans to help users better visualize their camera deployment and improve navigation within their environments. This month, we’re excited to introduce Map View, offering the same intuitive experience for exterior cameras.

Key benefits include:

  • Improved spatial awareness: Instead of scrolling through a list of camera feeds, you can now locate cameras on a map, making it easier to pinpoint their exact positioning on the property.
  • Enhanced operational efficiency: Quickly identify which camera corresponds to a specific location during an incident, saving valuable time during critical moments.
  • Scalability for large properties: For organizations managing campuses, retail chains, or geographically dispersed sites, this feature streamlines monitoring across all locations.

This update is available for all users. To access this feature, log into VMS+ and select Map View in the top-right corner of the Cameras page.

Edge Browser Support: More Flexibility and Accessibility

Previously, Lumana was optimized exclusively for Chrome. However, we’ve expanded compatibility to include Microsoft Edge, ensuring more flexibility for users and IT teams.

Key benefits include:

  • Broader accessibility: Organizations that use Edge as their default browser can now access Lumana’s full suite of features without compatibility concerns.
  • Seamless performance: Lumana’s platform has been rigorously tested on Edge to ensure the same reliability and speed you’ve come to expect.
  • IT policy compliance: For organizations with strict browser policies, Edge compatibility ensures Lumana integrates seamlessly into your IT environment.

Conclusion

We hope you enjoyed this month’s update. At Lumana, we’re committed to delivering a future-proof AI video security solution that enhances security, streamlines operations, and evolves to meet your needs. Event tag alerts unlock new integration possibilities, map view redefines spatial monitoring, and Edge browser support broadens access to our platform.

As we approach the end of the year, we’re gearing up for December’s updates, which will deliver even more innovations to close 2024 on a high note. Stay tuned as we continue making Lumana the most advanced AI video security platform on the market.
