At Lumana, we believe that innovation without responsibility isn't true progress—it’s a liability. As AI becomes more integrated into the fabric of security and operations, the gap between what technology can do and what it should do is widening. Today, we are officially sharing the Lumana Artificial Intelligence Policy. This is a public commitment to our users that our tools—while incredibly powerful—are governed by a strict framework of ethics, transparency, and technical safeguards.

Security-First Leadership: Our Dedicated Experts

A policy is only as strong as the leaders who uphold it. To ensure our commitment to privacy and security is woven into every layer of our platform, we have appointed dedicated experts to oversee our most critical functions:

Avishai Ostrin, Data Protection Officer (DPO)

Avishai has been appointed as Lumana’s Data Protection Officer, bringing a wealth of experience in navigating the intersection of emerging technology and global privacy law. In this role, Avishai ensures every Lumana product and process meets global data protection standards, acting as the dedicated guardian of customer data privacy and regulatory compliance.

Tony Voloshko, Chief Information Security Officer (CISO)

Securing the AI of tomorrow requires more than just standard firewalls. Tony Voloshko serves as Lumana’s CISO, leading our cybersecurity strategy and overseeing threat management, incident response, and security architecture across all products and infrastructure.

"Privacy and security are two sides of the same coin," says Tony Voloshko. "While Avishai ensures we are doing the right things with data, my mission is to ensure that data remains fortified within our secure architecture."

Beyond Automation: The Role of AI at Lumana

AI at Lumana isn’t about replacing human judgment; it’s about augmenting it. Our AI ecosystem is built to solve a specific, growing problem: the inherent inefficiency and "alert fatigue" of manual human review.

  • Multidimensional Recognition: Our system utilizes Large Language Models (LLMs) alongside advanced image and video recognition to identify individuals, objects, and complex patterns.
  • Superior Accuracy: Manual review is time-consuming and prone to cognitive bias. Lumana’s AI extracts and analyzes data with surgical precision, ensuring the right information reaches the right people.
  • Intelligent Insights: When enabled, our technology utilizes facial and pattern recognition to provide deep, actionable insights, transforming "passive" recording into proactive intelligence.

Privacy by Design: A Technical Deep-Dive

Under the guidance of our DPO and CISO, we’ve engineered our architecture to enforce our Responsible AI Policy, which defines the principles governing how we develop and operate AI—ensuring transparency, fairness, and accountability.

1. Power on the Edge

Most AI systems rely on "Cloud-First" processing, where every frame of video is sent to a remote server. At Lumana, the heavy lifting happens at the Core of the Device. This localized processing means sensitive data remains within your infrastructure, significantly reducing the "attack surface" for potential data breaches.

2. Automated, Human-Free Training

To stay accurate, models must learn. However, at Lumana, no human reviews your images or labels during this process. We have developed a fully automated pipeline where models are trained on a per-camera basis. A dedicated model is pushed to your specific camera, ensuring your data never "leaks" or mixes with others.

3. Elimination of Sensitive Attributes

We believe in objective data. Lumana models are trained to identify innocuous attributes—such as clothing color or accessories. They are not trained to identify sensitive characteristics like skin color or ethnicity, preventing the risk of algorithmic bias.

4. Granular Control & Anonymization

  • The Choice is Yours: You decide which features to enable on a per-camera basis.
  • Role-Based Access: Lumana accommodates granular access controls based on specific roles or individuals.
  • Anonymization by Default: When data is used to improve our global algorithms, it is stripped of its origin, making it impossible to trace back to a specific source or location.

Our Vision for the Future

We recognize that AI is a moving target. As technology evolves, so will our policy. We aren't just building smarter cameras; we are building a more transparent industry. By putting these terms front and center, we hope to empower our customers to use AI with total confidence, knowing their rights are respected at every step.
