February brings another strong round of updates to Lumana — deepening our AI capabilities, expanding what’s possible from the mobile app, and introducing new tools for smarter investigations. Let’s dive in.
Custom Object States: Monitor What Matters, React Before It Escalates

Custom Object States is one of the most versatile additions to Lumana’s AI capabilities yet. It allows users to monitor the status of objects in their environment and receive alerts when conditions change or persist beyond a defined threshold.
The most common use case is door monitoring. Users can be notified when a door has been left open too long or opened unexpectedly. Also, users can search video based on object state transitions for faster, more detailed investigations.
The capability extends well beyond doors. Loading dock gates left open after hours, equipment panels accessed without supervision on a manufacturing floor, a machine suddenly offline, restricted access to medical cabinets in a healthcare setting — any situation where the state of a physical asset signals risk can now trigger an intelligent alert.
This feature is now available to all customers. Reach out to the Lumana team to explore use cases specific to your environment.
Suspicious Person Report: Pattern Intelligence for Proactive Security

Security teams often know when something feels off — the same individual appearing repeatedly across different locations at odd hours — but building a documented picture has traditionally required extensive manual effort. Suspicious Person Report changes that completely.
Users can now generate a report directly within Lumana for a suspicious person, surfacing when and how often they’ve appeared across sites. For retail loss prevention teams, this means identifying repeat visitors before a theft occurs. For campus security, it provides a structured, time-stamped record of appearances that can support escalation and incident reporting when needed.
The Suspicious Person Report is now available on the Lumana platform with no additional configuration required.
VMS+ Mobile Enhancements: Push to Talk and Multi-Parameter Search

This month, two of Lumana’s most impactful capabilities come to mobile — bringing desktop-level speed and precision to wherever your team is.
Push to Talk enables real-time two-way audio directly from the mobile app. With a single tap, users can speak through integrated or external speakers to deter suspicious behavior, communicate with staff, or de-escalate a situation without needing to be on-site. For retail, a loss prevention manager can intervene verbally the moment an alert fires. For manufacturing, supervisors can reach workers in specific zones instantly, without relying on radio systems.
Multi-Parameter Search is now available, bringing Lumana’s best-in-class investigation capabilities to mobile. Users can now layer multiple parameters and attributes — object, appearance, time, location, etc. — directly from their phones, enabling them to move quickly during an active investigation without waiting to get back to a desk.
Both features are available now in the Lumana mobile app for all customers.
Looking Ahead: A Smarter, More Responsive Platform
This month’s updates reflect our continued focus on building a platform that doesn’t just record what happens — but also helps teams better understand, respond to, and prevent incidents. At Lumana, we’re transforming video into actionable, real-world intelligence through continuously evolving AI agents that help organizations automate detection, streamline responses, and operate with greater confidence.
